This spectacle cloth, made exclusively for the Lobkowicz Collections, celebrates the work of legendary German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827). Joseph Franz Maximilian, 7th Prince Lobkowicz (1772–1816), was Beethoven’s life-long patron. The Prince’s financial support gave Beethoven the freedom to compose without constraint. In return, Beethoven dedicated several works to the Prince, including his famous Symphony no. 3 (Eroica). This design is inspired by the 1820 portrait of the musician by Joseph Karl Stieler.
