This mug is inspired by Peter Bruegel the Elder’s Haymaking (1565), one of the pinnacles of European landscape painting. This masterpiece belongs to a series of six panels, of which five survive, each depicting the rural activities of two calendar months of the year. Bruegel portrays the early summer (June and July) and captures the everyday life of the peasantry.
