This booklet offers an introduction to the rich musical traditions of the Lobkowicz family who were not only patrons, but also enthusiastic collectors and performers. It highlights some of the collection’s most exceptional pieces, including 18th century lute tablatures, oratorios and operas in manuscript and early prints, and performing parts for symphonies and quartets by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven. Six years of researching and cataloguing the Lobkowicz Music Archive unearthed remarkable new discoveries which are also included, such as a small instructive book on how to play the harpsichord, composed for the granddaughter of the 4th Prince Lobkowicz and written by Wenzel Raimund Birck who taught the children of the imperial Habsburg family.
