This pen celebrates the work of legendary German composer and pianist Ludwig van Beethoven (1770–1827). Joseph Franz Maximilian, 7th Prince Lobkowicz (1772–1816), was Beethoven’s life-long patron. The Prince’s financial support gave Beethoven the freedom to compose without constraint. In return, Beethoven dedicated several works to the Prince, including his famous Symphony no. 3 (Eroica). This design is inspired by the 1820 portrait of the musician by Joseph Karl Stieler.
